In Our Own Voices, Serving the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgendered People of Color, and their Friends and Families.

We focus our efforts in the following areas: We engage in advocacy and education on a number of levels--working to ensure that the voices of LGBT people of color are a part of important conversations in our communities.  We also advocate for legislation and policies that improve the lives of LGBT people of color, as well as for the enforcement of existing legislation. We offer support groups for people who are in recovery from substance abuse. In Our Own Voices is home to the Capital Region LGBT Anti-Violence Project.  We work to improve domestic violence services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, particularly people of color, in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Montgomery, Saratoga, Columbia and Green counties.

On the 11th annual National Day of Silence (April 18, 2007), Erin Davies was victim to a hate crime in Albany, NY. Because of sporting a rainbow sticker on her VW Beetle, Erin's car was vandalized. Erin has turned this affront into a mission
to raise awareness about hate crimes and homophobia in our society, to give a voice for those who are silent, to inspire others to take a stand against bullies and to be an example of how to overcome obstacles in bringing a creative project to life. www.fagbug.com
