In Our Own Voices, Serving the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgendered People of Color, and their Friends and Families.
We focus our efforts in the following areas: We engage in advocacy and education on a number of levels--working to ensure that the voices of LGBT people of color are a part of important conversations in our communities. We also advocate for legislation and policies that improve the lives of LGBT people of color, as well as for the enforcement of existing legislation. We offer support groups for people who are in recovery from substance abuse. In Our Own Voices is home to the Capital Region LGBT Anti-Violence Project. We work to improve domestic violence services for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, particularly people of color, in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Montgomery, Saratoga, Columbia and Green counties.

The Albany Gay Men's Chorus formed late last Spring. Many of us are members of the Capital Pride Singers. Our goal is to sing challenging music that inspires and speaks to our community and the community at large.

More than 20 years experience in global education: Since 1987, IICD has trained over a 1,200 volunteers, who have taken part in development and community work with projects in Africa, Central America and Brazil.
IICD is located six miles outside of Williamstown in Western Massachusetts on 300 acres of forest land in the Berkshires. The property is called Swiss Meadows.
