The Names Project
The AIDS Memorial Quilt, Albany NY
The mission of our local chapter of the NAMES Project is consistent with the overall mission of the NAMES Project Foundation--keepers of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Our mission is to illustrate the enormity of the AIDS Epidemic by showing the humanity behind the statistics.
By using the AIDS Memorial Quilt as an artistic, and humanitarian response to the AIDS Epidemic, the NY Capital Region Chapter of the NAMES Project places great emphasis on the following:
Increasing public awareness of the AIDS Epidemic in and around our community, emphasizing that the crisis is not over.
Educating about HIV/AIDS prevention in the Capital Region of New York State and surrounding areas.
Empowering survivors to remember their loved ones lost to AIDS by creating individual panels that comprise the AIDS Memorial Quilt.
Collaborating with and supporting other area HIV/AIDS service providers in our community. To raise the funds necessary to carry out the operation of our Chapter.
